Chabtisgarh’s Phase One Attendance Was 71% Despite Calls for a Boycott and Maoist Terror.
On a day that saw multiple acts of violence by Maoists, Chhattisgarh had a provisional turnout of 70.87 percent in the first phase of Assembly elections on Tuesday.
Twenty of the ninety seats were up for election in the first round. Polling declined in all but two of the constituencies where Tuesday’s vote was held, according to preliminary data. The final results, according to an Election Commission official, will be made public on Wednesday.
In comparison to the previous election, there was an increase in polling in Dantewada and Bhanupratappur. While the turnout in Dantewada was 62.55 percent this time, it was 60.64 percent in the previous year. This time, 79.1% of voters in Bhanupratappur participated in polls; in 2018, that number was 77.58 percent.
